You name a topic or attach files, and Kimi Slides finds the material, builds the structure and designs the slides on its own. The finished deck opens in an online editor, runs as a slideshow in the browser or downloads as PPTX. Below, in order: how to start, how to write the request, what it costs and where the tool stops.
What Kimi Slides is and which model runs it
Kimi Slides generates presentations from a text description. Kimi Academy says it runs on Kimi K3. The model itself is covered in Kimi K3 from Moonshot AI: specs, open weights and official site.
People often search for "Kimi Agentic Slides", but that name comes from reviews. The help center simply calls the section Kimi Slides. The "agentic" part belongs to the Kimi Agent mode, where Slides sits next to Docs, Sheets, Build and Deep Research. The agent splits the task into steps, gathers material and calls the tools it needs. To get "ten slides on the electric scooter market" you do not have to hand it a finished text.
The query "kimi work" leads to a different product. It is a desktop agent for Windows and for Macs with Apple chips, not a page for presentations. Kimi's help center describes it as a local assistant for office work built on Kimi Code. Slides are made on the web, on the Slides page.
How to make a presentation in Kimi Slides step by step
Open kimi.com/slides; the address comes from the Kimi help center. Then five steps.
- Pick a style. There are ready-made options for consulting, marketing and academic work. Custom Style lets you describe a design in words and add references. Free Style leaves the choice to Kimi: it invents a theme from your files and offers a palette.
- Describe the deck and attach your materials. Most of the result is decided here; the next section has the details.
- Wait for the generation. You can stop it and add new requirements.
- Adjust the slides. Text, shapes, charts, images, themes and animations change right in the browser. Rearranging pages and other large edits are better requested from Kimi in the chat.
- Present the deck or export the file.
What is supported at each stage, according to Kimi Academy and the help center:
| Stage | What is supported |
|---|---|
| Input | Prompt text, PDF, Word, PPTX, Excel, TXT, images |
| Styles | Ready-made, Custom Style with references, Free Style with a palette choice |
| Content | Charts, flowcharts, Sankey and Gantt diagrams, image search and processing |
| Editing | Online editor, versions with rollback, canvas marks go to Kimi with your next message |
| Presenting | In the browser with transitions, a link for shared access |
| Export | PPT with embedded fonts and transitions, or images |
The product page lists PowerPoint and PNG among the output formats. PDF, Google Slides and the like are not stated separately in the official material we opened.
How to write a prompt for Kimi Slides
Kimi Academy advises naming the page count, the audience and the chart types, and better still describing the content of each page. We would add a rule of our own: put numbers in a file, not in the prompt text. If Kimi searches for material itself, the source can turn out to be random.
| What to specify | Why | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Number of slides | Keeps the deck from growing | 10 slides |
| Audience | Sets the language and depth | Board of directors, not finance people |
| Content per page | Fixes the structure | Slide 3: revenue by month |
| Chart type | Removes guessing | Bar chart, then pie chart |
| Data source | Protects against stray numbers | Excel table attached |
| Style | Defines the look | Strict, dark blue accent |
A ready-made prompt:
Make a 10-slide presentation for the board of directors: Q3 sales results.
The audience is not finance people, so use plain language.
Slides: 1 title; 2 the main takeaway in one sentence; 3-4 revenue by month (bar chart);
5 breakdown by channel (pie chart); 6-7 three reasons for growth; 8 risks; 9 plan for Q4;
10 decisions needed from the board.
Take the data from the attached Excel table. Strict style, dark blue accent.
Ask for the structure first and the look second. Fixing a five-line plan is cheaper than redoing ten finished slides.
What Kimi Slides costs and what is free
According to the Kimi help center, free credits arrive every month and are enough to try the full set of features without paying. How many presentations that covers is not stated anywhere. Kimi does not publish the cost of one file either, so make your first deck a small one.
On paid plans a single credit pool is shared between chat, agents and Kimi Code. The pool renews once a month and unused credits do not carry over. The balance is shown in Settings, under Subscription. Prices on the international kimi.ai as of 29 October 2026 (the page was captured on 19 October):
| Plan | Per month | Billed yearly, per month |
|---|---|---|
| Plus | $19 | $15 |
| Pro | $39 | $31 |
| Max | $99 | $79 |
| Ultra | $199 | $159 |
None of these plans has a separate line for Slides. On the Chinese kimi.com the prices differ and are in yuan (Go ¥49, Plus ¥99, Pro ¥199, Max ¥699, Ultra ¥1 399), and the names Moderato, Allegretto, Allegro and Vivace from older reviews belong to the previous plan lineup. Whether Kimi accepts Russian cards is covered in Kimi subscription from Russia. In short: we found no official support for Russian cards at Kimi.
Kimi Slides through codexkey: what you cannot do and what you can build yourself
Plainly: codexkey does not sell Kimi subscriptions or apps and does not open access to its website. The Slides section stays a Kimi product. The catalog does carry the models themselves, and an API with one sk_cdx_... key gives access to them. You can pay with a Russian bank card, with SBP (the Russian Faster Payments System) or in crypto.
| Model | Context | Input, $ per 1M tokens | Output, $ per 1M tokens |
|---|---|---|---|
kimi-k3 | 1000K | 0.62 | 3.08 |
kimi-k3.1-pro | 1000K | 0.42 | 2.06 |
kimi-k2.7-code | 262K | 0.20 | 0.80 |
codexkey price list as of 29 October 2026; current prices are on the models page.
The design, the material search and the charts of Kimi Slides cannot be reproduced this way. A model will still produce the slide structure, though, and the python-pptx library can build a file from it. This setup makes sense when identical reports come out on a schedule from data and you do not need a manual editor.
import json
from openai import OpenAI
from pptx import Presentation
client = OpenAI(base_url="https://api.codexkey.online/v1", api_key="sk_cdx_YOUR_KEY")
reply = client.chat.completions.create(
model="kimi-k3",
messages=[
{"role": "system", "content": 'Return JSON only: {"slides": [{"title": "...", "bullets": ["...", "..."]}]}'},
{"role": "user", "content": "8 slides: Q3 sales results for the board of directors"},
],
)
text = reply.choices[0].message.content
outline = json.loads(text[text.index("{"): text.rindex("}") + 1])
prs = Presentation()
for item in outline["slides"]:
slide = prs.slides.add_slide(prs.slide_layouts[1])
slide.shapes.title.text = item["title"]
frame = slide.placeholders[1].text_frame
frame.text = item["bullets"][0]
for bullet in item["bullets"][1:]:
frame.add_paragraph().text = bullet
prs.save("deck.pptx")
You get a plain white template with titles and bullet lists. Polish it by hand or swap in a corporate template. The quick start with a key is in the documentation, and gateways in general are covered in AI model aggregator with one API key.
When Kimi Slides is the wrong choice
- Documents under NDA. Any cloud generator receives your files in full. What not to send to models is listed in a separate article.
- Hard volume requirements. Neither the help center nor the pricing pages name limits on slide count or file size. Test with a trial deck before you promise a deadline.
- Signing up from Russia. According to the Kimi help center, only phone numbers and email addresses from supported regions are accepted, but the list itself is not given. Russia is named neither as supported nor as closed.
- Speed and design. A vc.ru review (a sponsored piece, in Russian) looks at the K2 version (May 2026): three to five minutes for ten slides and weaker design than Gamma and Beautiful.ai. Those measurements predate K3 and we found no newer ones, so compare on your own topic.
If you need a coding agent rather than slides, look at Kimi Code or OpenCode. Where Kimi's official site and app live is explained in Kimi official site: where to download the app.
FAQ
Are Kimi Slides and Agentic Slides the same tool?
Yes, it is one tool: the Kimi section that generates presentations. "Agentic Slides" turns up in reviews and search queries. In the help center it is called Kimi Slides and sits inside the Kimi Agent mode.
Is Kimi Slides free?
Free credits are issued every month and cover the full set of features. Kimi does not publish the size of the credits or the cost of a single presentation. Paid plans on kimi.ai start at $19 a month as of 29 October 2026.
What format does a Kimi Slides presentation download in?
The main format is an editable PPTX. Kimi Academy says that a PPT export embeds fonts and transitions, and that you can also export images. The slideshow runs in the browser, so there is nothing to download.
Which model does Kimi Slides run on?
According to Kimi Academy, Kimi K3. If you build the deck with your own code over the API, kimi-k3 and kimi-k3.1-pro are available, but the editor and the design stay on Kimi's side.
Can I make a Kimi presentation from an existing file or template?
Yes. Kimi Slides accepts PDF, Word, PPTX, Excel, TXT and images. The product page adds that you can also upload a PPT template or a style reference.
Does Kimi Slides work in Russia?
We found no official list of supported countries. The help center says that sign-in accepts only phone numbers and email addresses from supported regions. Kimi's public material says nothing about payment with Russian cards; details are in the article on paying for Kimi from Russia.
How is Kimi Slides different from Kimi Work?
Slides is a web section for presentations. Kimi Work is a separate desktop app for Windows and for Macs on Apple silicon: a local agent for office work.
