A Claude subscription starts at $17 a month. That is Pro billed yearly: month to month it costs $20, and the annual payment is $200 upfront. Max begins at $100, Team at $20 a seat on annual billing. The free plan stays free, but Claude Code is not part of it. Prices below come from Anthropic's pricing page as of 29 October 2026 and exclude tax. Russia is not on the list of supported countries, which gets its own section.
How much does a Claude subscription cost
| Plan | Price | Who it is for | Claude Code |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Chat, search, artifacts, memory | no |
| Pro | $20 a month, $17 a month billed yearly ($200 upfront) | One person | yes |
| Max 5x | $100 a month | A session 5 times larger than Pro | yes |
| Max 20x | $200 a month | A session 20 times larger than Pro | yes |
| Team Standard | $20 a seat per month on annual billing, $25 month to month | Teams of 2 to 150 seats | yes |
| Team Premium | $100 a seat on annual billing, $125 month to month | 5 times the usage of Standard | yes |
| Enterprise | $20 a seat per month, annual contract, 20 seats minimum, plus usage at API rates | Large organizations | yes |
Anthropic's help center adds three caveats. Max is sold on monthly billing only. Prices in the mobile apps can differ from web prices. There are no standard discounts on Pro or Max: only nonprofits get a discount, and only on Team and Enterprise.
What Free, Pro, Max and Team include
- Free: chat on the web, desktop and phone, web search, file creation, code execution, memory across conversations, artifacts.
- Pro: everything in Free, more usage, Claude Code, Projects, more models, Claude in Chrome and Microsoft 365, task handoff and scheduling. Pro does not give you API access through the Console.
- Max: everything in Pro, with a session 5 or 20 times larger, higher output limits, earlier access to new features and priority at peak hours. It ships with API credits worth $100 or $200 a month.
- Team: shared billing and administration, SSO, a pool of API credits up to $500 a month. Premium seats get 5 times the usage of Standard seats.
Can Max credits be spent in Claude Code? No. They cover the Claude API, the Agent SDK and Managed Agents, and they do not pay for Claude Code or for extra usage inside the apps. Unused credits do not roll over, and you receive them after seven days on an active plan.
Anthropic describes the capacity of each plan in multiples, not in a number of messages. How the five-hour window and the weekly cap work is covered in Claude limits on Pro, Max and Claude Code.
How to choose a Claude plan
We would start with Pro. Watch Settings > Usage for two weeks: if the session bar hits the ceiling before the workday ends, move to Max 5x. Max 20x makes sense when several agents run in parallel and you still use up the whole week. Before paying for it, consider usage credits. They work on Pro and Max, are billed at standard API rates, and you set the monthly spending cap yourself in Settings > Usage.
If there are two of you or more, look at Team. A Standard seat on annual billing costs $20, the same as Pro month to month, but Anthropic states it includes more usage than Pro and adds shared billing with administration. The minimum is two seats and the maximum 150. Organizations that need SCIM, audit logs and roles should look at Enterprise, where usage is billed at API rates.
A Claude subscription from Russia
Russia is not on the list of supported countries. Anthropic's policy also treats use by people who are physically in such a region as unsupported. The help article on Pro says the plan is available only in some supported countries. So the plain answer to "claude subscription in russia" is that there is no official route.
Cards from Russian banks are usually declined at payment, and the reasons are covered in how to pay for Claude from Russia. We would not buy a subscription from a middleman on a shared or someone else's account. Anthropic blocks accounts created from an unsupported location, and the history and projects vanish along with the account. Bans are covered in detail in VPN for Claude and account bans.
codexkey does not sell subscriptions and does not give access to claude.ai. It is API access to Claude models, paid in rubles. We compared a subscription and tokens for Russia in Claude subscription or Claude API.
Subscription or API: which is cheaper
The deciding factor is how you work, not the price in the table.
| Scenario | What to pick | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Hours of Claude Code work every day | Max 5x or 20x | The price is fixed, with no token bill |
| A few tasks a week | API by tokens | You pay only for what you use |
| Chat, Projects, artifacts, Claude in Chrome | Pro | The API has none of these apps |
| Bots, CI, your own services | API | Pro does not include API usage through the Console |
| A team of two or more | Team | Shared billing, a pool of API credits |
| Working from Russia | API through a gateway | The subscription is not available in your country |
Now the numbers. Take an assumed profile for the comparison: per working day, 30M tokens read from cache, 1.2M of fresh input (cache writes are counted at the input price) and 0.4M output tokens, with 22 working days in a month. This is an assumption, not a measurement. The /usage command in Claude Code shows your own volume.
| Option | Monthly cost for the profile |
|---|---|
| Pro | $20 |
| Max 5x | $100 |
| Max 20x | $200 |
| Sonnet 5.5, codexkey price | $76.21 |
| Opus 5.5, codexkey price | $126.72 |
| Sonnet 5.5, official API | $206.80 |
| Opus 5.5, official API | $413.60 |
The conclusions are cautious. On Opus 5.5 at this volume Max 5x is cheaper than tokens even at codexkey prices, and against the official API the gap is fourfold. On Sonnet 5.5, codexkey tokens cost less than Max 5x but more than Pro. Anthropic does not publish whether Pro covers this profile, so test it on your own repository.
Tokens win when the work is irregular. Four working days on Opus 5.5 in a month cost $23.04 at codexkey for the profile. The premium over Pro is $3, and in return there are no windows and no session caps. Where the break-even sits is shown in Claude Pro, Max or API.
How to pay for Claude from Russia through the API
You top up the balance with a Russian bank card, SBP (the Russian Faster Payments System) or crypto. Then you create an sk_cdx_... key in your codexkey account and use any model in the catalog. No Anthropic account is needed. Prices are in USD per 1M tokens, the codexkey price list as of 29 October 2026, and current values are on the models page. Official prices come from the Anthropic documentation.
| Model | Official API, input / output | codexkey, input / output |
|---|---|---|
Claude Opus 5.5 (claude-opus-5-5) | $4 / $20 | $0.86 / $4.32 |
Claude Sonnet 5.5 (claude-sonnet-5-5) | $2 / $10 | $0.52 / $2.60 |
Claude Fable 5.1 (claude-fable-5-1) | $10 / $50 | $7.48 / $37.44 |
Claude Code is configured with environment variables. The ANTHROPIC_DEFAULT_* lines are required: without them the agent asks for its own default models and gets an error. The permanent setup through settings.json is described in the Claude Code guide:
export ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL="https://api.codexkey.online"
export ANTHROPIC_AUTH_TOKEN="sk_cdx_YOUR_KEY"
export ANTHROPIC_MODEL="claude-sonnet-5"
export ANTHROPIC_DEFAULT_OPUS_MODEL="claude-opus-5-5"
export ANTHROPIC_DEFAULT_SONNET_MODEL="claude-sonnet-5"
export ANTHROPIC_DEFAULT_HAIKU_MODEL="claude-sonnet-5"
