Cursor IDE
Cursor IDE lets you set your own OpenAI-compatible endpoint, so Claude and GPT models are available through codexkey.
Requirements
- A paid Cursor plan (Pro or higher). Custom endpoints do not work during the trial period.
- A codexkey API key.
Setup
- In Cursor, open Settings → Models.
- Turn on OpenAI API Key and paste your codexkey key:text
sk_cdx_YOUR_KEY - Turn on Override OpenAI Base URL and enter:text
https://api.codexkey.online/v1 - Click Add Model and type the Cursor model name.
Model names
With a third-party key, Cursor rejects its own model names, so Claude and GPT models have separate names for Cursor. Examples:
| Name for Cursor | Model |
|---|---|
cursors5 | Claude Sonnet 5 |
cursor55 | Claude Opus 5.5 |
cursorgpt6sol | GPT-6 Sol |

Troubleshooting
"Could not connect to custom API"
The base URL must be exactly https://api.codexkey.online/v1: no trailing slash and no /chat/completions. Cursor adds the path itself.
"Invalid API key"
The key must start with sk_cdx_. Keys from other providers will not work.
"Model not found"
Take the name from the table in the Cursor guide. If a model has no separate name, use its ID from GET /v1/models.
Trial plan limitations
The free Cursor trial does not accept custom endpoints. To work with codexkey, upgrade to Cursor Pro.
Slow responses
Autocomplete is fine with a smaller model such as GPT-5.6 Luna (cursorgpt56lun); save the larger models for chat and heavy code generation.
